US politics, abortion
"The egg in the lab doesn’t apply. It’s not in a woman. She’s not pregnant"
To no one's surprise, Alabama's abortion law isn't about abortion at all, but about punishing those who are most vulnerable due to their class and the state's lack of sex education. Disgusting, and even Dreher agrees, which I find hilarious.
Lots to digest here and in the pseudo-response by William James. http://people.brandeis.edu/~teuber/Clifford_ethics.pdf
On an individual level, the republican party is a cult of personality, and the democratic party is a cargo cult
The republicans subscribe to the great man theory of leadership. It doesn't what he actually does, they just need an ersatz father to project their castle doctrine fantasy onto.
Democrats believe that if enough people on their side play dress-up and give important speeches and perform the politics ritual they've seen on TV, eventually politics will *have* to happen, right?
united states politics
The democratic party's 10-step plan for america:
1. Talk about something bad republicans did
2. Continue talking about thing
3. Continue talking about it
4. Eschew any chance to try to mitigate harm of the bad thing; continue talking about it
5. Ignore literally all other problems while continuing to talk about it
8. Remember the thing?
9. Lose election
10. It's the leftists' fault for splitting the party

If you can't draw a very hard line at isolating children for the crimes of their parents, without due process, with no good way to be reunited, then you have some serious introspection to do. Thank God that the Church recognizes that line. https://oca.org/news/headline-news/metropolitan-tikhon-addresses-president-trump-on-the-separation-of-families

@Gargron i think sleeping feels like giving up on whatever i was doing. it's like admitting defeat, surrendering to the fact that time marches on and theres never enough of it. maybe every night i'm subconsciously scared of what tomorrow might bring? maybe laying down in the dark in bed with nothing to distract me is uncomfortable??
